Tips for cleaning windows

Proper window care is crucial year-round. Grime and dirt quickly accumulate windows.

In addition to the aesthetic purpose of cleaning your windows, window care will prevent damage, ensure good air quality in the home, and keep your home’s energy efficiency levels good. 

If possible, wash your windows on a day where the weather is above the freezing point. If it is below or around freezing, using a squeegee with the 10:1 solution makes the winter cleaning experience much easier.

While on the topic of window cleaning, here are a few general maintenance tips for cleaning windows. It is important to open the windows every so often in the summer and fall to check how dirty it has gotten. You can use soap water and a vacuum for routine cleaning. Check the tracks as well to make sure it is all running smoothly.

To test for functionality, check that your windows open and close correctly. Make sure to close, lock, and seal in the winter. You should also check the balances in the top of the window. You can feel and look for potential weak spots that may be creating a draft as well.
